Hour of Devastation
Most red sweepers settle for clearing the board of fair-sized threats; this one is built to punish the decks that thought they had insured themselves against a wipe. The first clause strips indestructible from every creature for the turn, so the gods, the indestructible commander, the Avacyn-style "your team can't die" package, the entire suite of refuse-to-die defenses goes dark before the damage resolves. Then five damage hits every creature and every planeswalker, with the lore-driven carve-out that spares only Bolas himself. That indestructible-stripping front half is the design's whole reason for being: red has always struggled to answer creatures that simply will not die to burn, and this rewrites the keyword math of the turn rather than scaling the damage higher. The planeswalker clause carries just as much weight. A board wipe that also clears the opposing walkers, and threatens your own if you have committed them, asks a different sequencing question than a creature-only sweeper does. Five mana buys all of that reach, and the design spends every point of it: enough damage to kill almost any realistic battlefield, applied through the one defensive keyword that usually shrugs off red removal. It is a red sweeper engineered for an era when indestructible had become the default escape hatch out of a wrath.
