A counterspell built around a fault line rather than a fixed price: it stops a spell only when the spell's mana value matches the card you pitch, which makes the composition of your hand the limiting factor, not your mana. A varied hand answers a wide range of threats; a clutch of three-drops can only stop three-drops, and the activation runs you on top of the discarded card every time. The 1/3 body is sized to sit unbothered on the table while the ability does the work, an inconspicuous frame for what amounts to a repeatable, conditional counter that you reload from your own resources. The design tension is the bet it asks you to make: you trade card economy and information for control, hoping the costs you hold line up with the costs you fear. It rewards reading an opponent's deck and keeping the right denominations in reserve, and it punishes a stranded hand that simply cannot match what is on the stack. Among the early Wizard-tribal legends that leaned on hand-as-resource, this is the most surgical of them, an engine that asks you to think about spells as numbers rather than colors, and to treat your own cards as ammunition sorted by value.
