The +1/+5 split is the whole pitch: a defensive Aura built around toughness rather than power. White pump auras of this early era leaned offensive, stacking power to push damage through; this one inverts the math, turning a small creature into a wall that survives most burn and trades up in combat against larger attackers. Because it is an Aura without flash, it commits at sorcery speed, so it works less as a surprise and more as a deliberate investment ahead of the turn: enchant a modest body and it suddenly outlasts what should kill it, and the toughness padding means a chump becomes a blocker that holds the ground for several turns. The cost of that durability is the same liability every Aura of its kind carries: a single removal spell answers two cards at once, and the tempo loss when the host dies is real. Toughness-pump has been a recurring white experiment across the years, but the appeal here is how cleanly it states the case for defense as a resource. Power wins races; toughness wins attrition, and this Aura buys attrition for two mana.
