The static bonus rewards a Plains specifically: a literal land type, not just white mana, so the 2/2 becomes a 3/3 the moment a Plains hits the battlefield, while dual lands or mana rocks that produce white but carry no Plains type leave the body at base size. The regeneration shield then demands actual white mana to fire, so the card scales from passable to durable as your commitment to a second color deepens. This is a color-pie inversion played for flavor: green-white identities usually live on the white card with a green rider, while here the green body leans on white both to reach its ceiling and to survive. The Troll typeline does real work too: regenerating Trolls are a recurring green motif, and bolting a white activation onto that chassis is the kind of cross-color experiment that suited an era of deliberately scrambled, off-axis designs. Left in a mono-green shell, both halves go quiet at once: the bonus never switches on without a Plains, and the regeneration sits idle without a white source, so you are running a plain 2/2 whose two abilities are both stranded. The card only becomes itself with a manabase that answers white. As a study in allied-color tension on a common body, it documents a design moment more than it ever defined a deck.
