Demonstrate is the mechanic that turns a giveaway into a political lever, and this is the least threatening spell it was ever bolted to: a Regrowth with a life-gain rider. Copying an effect that only hands a player back a card from their own graveyard reads as generosity, because it is. That is the tension the mechanic is built around: to trigger the copy, you also have to copy it for an opponent, so the payment for doubling your own recursion is that a chosen rival gets a dead card back too. On a raw effect that trade is often fine; you retrieve your bomb, they retrieve something of their own choosing. The steering knob is narrow and worth understanding: each player controls their own copy and picks their own target, so you cannot dictate what an opponent pulls back. What you can do is choose which opponent copies it at all, aiming the gift at the table's least dangerous graveyard. The life gain scales off mana value rather than a flat number, so the reward tracks with the size of the card you return, and the self-exile clause keeps it honest: this is a one-shot buyback, not a loop, asking you to spend the copy on the recursion that actually matters. What earns it a slot is less the rate than the negotiation: symmetric recursion is a low-stakes place to practice the bargaining demonstrate exists to create.
