Healer of the Pride
The lifegain here is a passive tax on width, not a single trigger you cash in. Every creature that follows it onto the battlefield (tokens included) nudges your life total up by two, which means the value scales with exactly the kind of go-wide white deck that wants to flood the board. That ties its payoff to a deckbuilding decision rather than to combat or to a fragile combo: a 2/3 that sits inert the turn you deploy it, then quietly converts every subsequent creature into a buffer against the aggression you are racing. The design problem it answers is how to make incremental lifegain feel earned rather than incidental, and it solves it by making the gain a function of tempo you were already spending. Token generators turn the trickle into a flood, and that is where the engine reveals its true axis: it is less a healer than a meter on how fast you can refill the board. The body sets the price for that engine. Three toughness survives the small-creature combat it cares about, but four mana for a 2/3 with no immediate impact is a deliberate brake, keeping a repeatable two-life-per-creature payoff from arriving cheaply enough to dominate a board it was already winning.
