Hazoret's Monument
The clearest member of a five-part monument cycle, each tuned to a color's identity, and red got the one that turns flooding into pressure. The cost reduction is the obvious half: cheaper red creatures, faster boards, the mana-efficiency aggressive red has always wanted. The discard-then-draw rider is the half doing the quieter work. It fires on every creature spell you cast, not just red ones, and it is card-neutral rummaging rather than raw advantage: you trade a dead card for a live one without changing your hand size. That distinction matters because the payoff scales with a deck built to flood and run hot. Late in a game, when extra lands and clunky top-decks pile up, every creature you cast becomes a chance to dig toward gas. The two abilities pull the same direction without overlapping: the static discount makes threats cheaper to deploy, the trigger keeps the cards behind them fresh, so the curve never stalls into a mode where you have mana and no action. It is a rate-and-consistency artifact rather than a payoff, which is why it wants a creature-dense shell: the discount only bites when your bodies are red, and the rummage only fires when you keep casting them. Build around a thin curve of red creatures and it quietly smooths every draw step; splash it into something slower and it sits inert, a three-mana rock with nothing to fuel it.
