Artifact1 generic manaWhite mana

Phasing as a repeatable, artifact-borne effect is a genuinely odd corner of white's toolkit, and this is a clean expression of it. Phasing out a creature you control does not target it for removal, does not exile it, and does not put it on the stack: it lifts the creature (and everything attached) out of the game until your next turn, sidestepping destroy effects, sacrifice edicts, board wipes, and combat damage alike. The engine is the reason it rewards owning the ability rather than casting a one-shot fog. Because it activates at instant speed for a colorless cost, the tap-and-two-mana line becomes a recurring protection window: answer a targeted kill spell by removing its target from existence, pull an attacker back out of a lethal block by yanking it clean out of combat, or duck a sweeper by phasing your best creature the turn it resolves. The distinction worth holding onto is that phasing is not blinking: nothing enters or leaves the battlefield, so this neither retriggers your enters-the-battlefield effects nor breaks off enchantments and counters the way flicker does. What keeps it grounded is the tap symbol and the tempo cost: one creature per turn, and the mana has to be there when the threat lands. It is a low-visibility artifact that hardens a board rather than swinging a game, a self-contained answer to spot removal that any deck can slot in without touching white mana beyond the casting cost.
