Harmonize

Sorcery2 generic manaGreen manaGreen mana

Green's claim to card advantage, made explicit. The color had always drawn cards in roundabout ways: by ramping into bigger threats, by trading creatures up in combat, by stapling a draw to a body. This was green simply paying four mana to refill its hand the way blue had been doing since the beginning, no creature attached, no condition to satisfy. The design borrowed the rate from blue's own card-draw spells almost exactly, then shifted it a color over to test whether green could be trusted with raw selection-free advantage. The answer the color pie eventually settled on is that it could, but only at this kind of premium: blue gets its three cards for less, or at instant speed, or with a body included, while green pays full retail and sorcery timing for the privilege. That tax is the whole negotiation. Harmonize is what green card draw looks like when it is allowed to exist without an asterisk, and the lineage that follows (the various green "draw three" effects printed since) all measure themselves against this clean, conditionless baseline.
