Land

The bounce-land template (enters tapped, returns a land to hand, taps for two to repay the tempo you just spent) was invented as color fixing: Boros Garrison and the Karoo-descended cycle each produced two specific colors, so netting a mana while smoothing a two-color base was the entire justification. This one keeps every cost of the frame and abandons the payoff. It still comes down tapped, still sets you back a land you have to replay, and then produces two colorless mana, which colors nothing. The friction that the two-color versions bought their way out of is still here; the reward that paid for it is gone. That leaves a narrow band of decks genuinely happy with the trade: shells that want colorless volume for its own sake, or ones built to trigger a land twice rather than once (an Eldrazi ramp base, a landfall engine that fires on the return, a permanent with a useful enters-tapped or bounce interaction). For everyone else it is pure tempo loss with no fixing to show for it. As a design exercise, it works by subtraction: preserve a familiar mechanic, remove the reason the mechanic existed, and see what the frame is worth stripped of its purpose. Fixing was the whole justification for bounce lands, and this one deletes exactly that, leaving the machinery running on empty.
