A wall that punishes you for treating it like one. The design reads as a deterrent wired into the body: swing a creature at its controller or their planeswalker and the trigger fires, stripping defender and bolting on trample, so the 7/7 stops being a blocker and becomes a 7/7 trampling attacker on the following turn. What sets it apart from other conditional walls is who supplies the release. Most defenders that promise to stop being defenders make you pay: mana, a clearing condition, some hoop on your own clock. Here the trigger is entirely reactive, keyed to the opponent's aggression and resolved on their schedule rather than the controller's. Refuse to attack and the board stays frozen; attack for value and you hand the Golem's controller a finisher. Note the one-way nature of the swap. The trigger only checks and fires while the card still has defender, so once it transforms it stays transformed; this is a permanent state change, not a switch that resets every combat. The seven-mana price buys a genuine 7/7 that can hold the line before it ever moves, and the wall mode banks time on the road to the attack mode. It is a card built for a patient board and a player content to make the other side blink first.
