Guardian Augmenter

Creature — Troll Wizard2 generic manaGreen mana

The word "hexproof" printed on a creature that grants it to your commander is doing something more surgical than the keyword's usual defensive read suggests: this is an answer to the entire class of targeted removal a Commander deck fears most, and flash is what turns it from a durdle into that answer. The window works reactively. When an opponent points removal at your general, you flash this in before the removal resolves, the hexproof lands, and the spell fizzles for lack of a legal target. You spent a card in hand to do it, but you kept your commander on the battlefield and gained a 2/2 body in the bargain: their premium removal traded for a card that then keeps working. The +2/+2 is the smaller half of the deal but not incidental. It scales with however many commanders the format lets you field, and in a partner build it turns two bodies into a genuine clock while keeping both generals untouchable. What keeps the card from being a pure defensive tax is that the buff and the protection are welded to the same body, so the creature that swings and blocks is also the reason your commander cannot be picked off. It reads as a support piece and functions as a linchpin: the difference between a general that gets exiled on sight and one an opponent has to answer with a board wipe.
