Grim Lavamancer

Creature — Human WizardRed mana

Few cards have ever turned a graveyard into ammunition this cleanly. Where most repeatable burn comes bolted to a real body or a fragile life-payment engine, this trades the contents of your own bin for two damage at a time: a clock and a removal spell stapled to a 1/1 for one. The genius is the tension it builds into a deck. Aggressive red shells fill their graveyards constantly (cracked fetchlands, spent burn, dead creatures), and this converts all of that detritus into reach. But the exile cost is real friction: each activation eats two cards from your own pile, so it competes directly with delve, threshold, flashback, and anything else fighting for the same fuel. It is a Wizard that demands you decide, turn by turn, whether the yard is fuel to spend or a resource to hoard. That self-limiting cost is what kept the rate honest across two decades of Constructed play; a one-drop that pinged for two with no strings attached would have been oppressive, but one that slowly hollows out its own support is a card you build around rather than slot in. The body invites removal, the tap symbol means it sits idle the turn it lands, and the graveyard can run dry mid-game. None of that has ever stopped it from being one of the most enduring one-mana threats red has printed.
