Card advantage stapled to a tribal payoff: the body digs four deep on arrival and rewards you only for the Zombies it turns up, scaling its refuel directly with how committed your deck is to the creature type. Stuff the list with Zombies and it can replace itself two or three times over; run a handful and it whiffs into a 2/1 that buries all four revealed cards on the bottom of your library. That conditionality is the design, not a flaw in it: the card pays out as a hand-refueling engine for a dedicated black Zombie shell and falls flat anywhere else, so it never threatened to be a generic value creature. The regeneration line, cheap and repeatable, points at the same intent, keeping a fragile body alive through combat and sweepers so it can block and chip while the rest of the tribe rebuilds. This is the unglamorous gear inside an attrition-minded black machine from an era that leaned hard into recursion and grind: not a bomb, just the piece that keeps a Zombie deck's hand full long after a fairer deck has run dry.
