Grand Abolisher
A two-mana lockout for combo decks that need a clean turn to do their thing. The window it protects is precise: any spell your opponents could cast, or ability of an artifact, creature, or enchantment they could activate, to interrupt you during your turn (instant-speed removal, a counterspell, an artifact mana ability, a creature's tap effect) goes dark while you're assembling a kill. It does not stop them from acting on their own turn, which is the discipline that keeps it from being a hard Stax lock; it only buys you the turn you actually need. The lineage is anti-interaction protection running back to Defense Grid and forward to Teferi, Time Raveler, but the structural difference matters: this carries no tax, no asymmetry to navigate, just a flat prohibition that snaps on the instant it resolves. The cost of that clean effect is the body. A 2/2 with no evasion or protection is exactly the size a removal spell answers for one mana, but the static ability covers its own back: while the prohibition is live, opponents can't kill it during your turn with those spells or abilities, so once it resolves and the combo turn begins, they lose their usual tools to remove it before the kill goes off. That is why it lives in decks built to deploy it and win in the same motion, casting it and going off immediately rather than passing the turn and handing opponents a sorcery-speed window to clear it.
