Gorilla Pack

Creature — Ape2 generic manaGreen mana

A 3/3 for three mana in 1995 was above the going rate, and Ice Age paid for it with text that works against the player who controls it. The attack restriction inverts the classic green forestwalk idea: rather than slipping past defenders who run Forests, the Pack flatly refuses to swing at anyone who isn't on green, gating its own aggression on the defending player's land types. The meaner half ties a sacrifice trigger to your own Forest count, so a Strip Mine, a stray Stone Rain, or a run of nongreen draws can erase the body without anyone targeting it. The leash sits in someone else's hands, which makes the Pack play less like a beater and more like a hostage to the board's terrain. That tension was deliberate: conditional drawbacks were how early design justified above-curve stats before keyword counters and finality clauses existed to do the same disciplining work. The body is genuine; the question of whether you ever get to use it belongs to the lands on the table, not to you.
