Gorger Wurm
Devour was the keyword that asked a fair question of a fair card: how much do you want this 5/5 to be? Sacrifice nothing and you have an honestly costed beater for the color pair that builds the biggest bodies anyway. Sacrifice a board of expendable creatures and the wurm walks in with one +1/+1 counter per body, scaling directly off whatever was already dead weight. The mechanic does its accounting on entry, all at once, which is what makes the card a payoff rather than an engine: there is no ongoing trigger to milk, just a single decision made at the moment it resolves. That timing is also the catch. Everything you feed it sits in the same counter, so a wrath or a single removal spell on the wurm undoes the whole transaction at once, turning a careful turn into a one-for-many loss. The reward is sizing; the price is concentration. As Gruul aggression has always wanted bodies that cash out into bigger bodies, this is the plainest version of that exchange: a vanilla-adjacent green-red fatty whose ceiling is entirely a function of how much you were willing to throw into the grinder before it arrived.
