Goblin Chirurgeon

Creature — Goblin ShamanRed mana

A regeneration outlet that feeds on its own tribe: the 0/2 body doing the regenerating is itself fuel for the next save. Built to sit back and convert excess Goblins into staying power, it trades the least relevant creature on the board to keep the most relevant one alive through removal or a losing block. The sacrifice cost is what holds the rate in check. Regeneration here is never free; every shield costs a body, so the ability is worth only as much as the chaff you can spare, and it does nothing against effects that route around regeneration entirely (exile, bounce, minus-toughness that drops a creature to zero before the shield matters). The interesting part is the timing: activation is a mana-free sacrifice, so a single Chirurgeon can protect a creature several times in one combat as long as the Goblins keep coming, with no tapping and no mana to gate it. That places it among the early sacrifice-for-value engines where the price is a permanent rather than mana, and the deck is built to manufacture the fodder. It is a support piece for a wide Goblin board, not a standalone threat, and it reads as one of the first attempts to tie regeneration to a creature-type resource instead of a generic mana payment.
