The condition is deliberately broad on what you throw away but strict on how: it cares only that you actively sacrificed a permanent this turn, so a spent Treasure, a cracked fetch land, or a fading Blood token all flip the switch, while a creature that simply dies to combat or removal does nothing for it. That distinction matters. This isn't a death-counter payoff; it rewards the act of feeding an engine, which ties it cleanly to the sacrifice outlets it wants to run alongside. Menace is the load-bearing half of the bonus, turning three power into evasion against a life total already sliding downward from your own drain effects, and folding every value sacrifice into incidental reach. Sacrifice strategies have always carried a familiar tension: they generate advantage by trading permanents but often stall out short of a kill, grinding forever without closing. This is the payoff that treats the pile of things you've discarded as an offensive resource rather than a bookkeeping cost, cheap enough to land on the first turn and patient enough to wait until the engine comes online behind it.
