Gnarlroot Trapper
Two abilities for one black mana, and both exist to make a board of Elves go faster and hit harder rather than to do anything alone. The first taps for green mana that can only pay for Elf creature spells: a one-drop that ramps into your two- and three-mana Elves a turn early, with the life payment as the toll. That a black creature produces green mana for a tribe historically anchored in green is the quiet trick here; it bends Elves toward black without abandoning the curve that makes the deck work, slotting the second color into the tribe's identity by paying for it in life rather than in fixing. The second ability is strictly offensive: it hands deathtouch to an attacking Elf only, so it cannot guard the red zone on defense, but on the attack it warps every combat math question the opponent faces. A blocker that would happily eat a lone token now trades with it, so the deathtouch punishes the block as readily as it forces one; a single Elf suddenly threatens anything standing in its lane. Neither line is glamorous in isolation, but together they describe what a low-rarity tribal enabler is for: accelerate the board on offense, tilt combat in your favor, all off a body small enough to be a chump or sacrifice fodder when neither ability is live. This is glue, and it wants a full tribe to point at.
