Filler at its most honest: a 2/1 flier for with no upside text, no second mode, no payoff hiding in the keyword line. The rate is deliberately plain. Its entire job is to chip in the air and trade up against ground creatures that cannot block it, which is exactly what a card this cheap and this fragile is supposed to do and nothing more. Black has been printing variations on this slot for a long time (Dauthi Horror traded the same body for fear, Wind Drake's many color cousins occupy the identical curve point), and this one lands squarely in the unremarkable middle of that line: too soft to hold the ground on defense, too small to threaten anything fast enough to race it. The one feature worth naming is the type line. A Bat is a tribe black returns to only occasionally, so a body like this becomes connective tissue whenever a deck wants evasive creatures that happen to share a word: the keyword is generic, the creature type is the part that occasionally earns it a slot it would not otherwise get. Absent that pull, it is a body and a flying keyword, doing the quiet work every set needs someone to do.
