Glimpse of Freedom

Instant1 generic manaBlue mana

Escape is the mechanic that lets a spell crawl back out of the graveyard as long as you can pay the toll, and here it is bolted to the plainest possible payload: a cantrip. The first cast is a workmanlike two-mana draw, unremarkable in isolation. The interesting decision is the recast, and its cost is set at a deliberately punishing number. Exiling that many graveyard cards per return is a tax steep enough to guarantee the yard cannot indefinitely feed a draw loop, because a cantrip is exactly the effect a deck would fire on repeat if the design let it. The toll competes directly with every other escape spell and every delve card demanding the same fuel, so the tension is baked in: you want the recursion, but you rarely get to afford more than a return or two before the bin runs dry. It sits close in spirit to the buyback cantrips of an earlier era, where the flexibility to recast a small spell was priced high enough that you seldom cashed it many times a game. What escape changes is where the fuel comes from: the recursion is paid off the graveyard rather than the hand, so the card behaves as a graveyard resource instead of a mana sink. A stocked bin becomes a slow trickle of new cards, and every draw shortens the runway for doing it again.
