Gleaming Overseer
Amass has a structural weakness baked in: every counter piles onto a single Army, so the entire investment lives or dies with one permanent that a single removal spell can wipe. This 1/4 exists to fix that. The body is defensive on purpose, not a threat but a caretaker: it sits back and hands the whole Zombie-token plan hexproof and menace, which flips the calculus completely. The Army you have been growing can no longer be picked off by point removal, and it forces two blockers on every swing, turning a slow-accumulating counter stack into something that must be answered in combat or by a board wipe. Its own enters-the-battlefield trigger adds a single counter, but that is incidental; the lasting value is the static grant, and it reads on every Zombie token you control, so any other token source inherits the same protection, not just the Army this card feeds. The color pairing does exactly the job the design needs: blue's evasion instinct married to black's grinding accumulation, with the amass count doing the growing while the static ability keeps opponents short on clean answers. It converts a mechanic built around one vulnerable stack into a board state that survives interaction and punishes bad blocks.
