Gleaming Geardrake
The Clue token it makes on the way in is not just card advantage; it is ammunition. A 1/1 flier that grows every time you crack an artifact turns the investigate keyword's own byproduct into fuel, so the body that arrives feeble is designed to snowball off the very engine it starts by handing you. Sacrifice the Clue it created, draw a card, and the counter lands: the enter trigger and the sacrifice trigger are two halves of one loop that only needs a way to spend artifacts to close. That framing matters because it points the card away from being a value creature and toward being an artifact-sacrifice payoff, the counter accruing off Treasure, Food, Blood, or any other token the deck is already discarding for profit. The design lesson is in the pairing of colors: Izzet gets a creature that rewards the artifact churn both halves of the guild already do, without asking for a dedicated sacrifice outlet, since the Clue guarantees a ready target to crack the moment it lands. Everything past that first counter is a question of how many disposable artifacts the shell can feed it.
