Glass Asp

Creature — Snake1 generic manaGreen manaGreen mana

Combat damage that hands the defender a bill on their own turn is a strange knob to turn, and this snake is built almost entirely around it. The poison here is not the keyword version: a connection arms a delayed trigger timed for the start of the opponent's next draw step, and the toll is settled earlier, where they either pay 2 generic mana to defuse it or lose two life when the draw step arrives. That is a one-per-hit levy, not a permanent drain, and the timing is what makes it bite. The 2 generic mana is demanded on the opponent's clock rather than the attacker's, against a deck that would rather spend that mana developing or holding up interaction, and the decision lands before they have even drawn their card for the turn. The design sits in the family of creatures whose combat damage carries a rider that resolves after the swing rather than during it, and the wrinkle is that the victim foots the cost, so each successful attack becomes a small forced decision rather than a clean burn. The 2/1 body has no evasion of its own and dies to almost any block, so it only earns value while it keeps connecting, which leans on the attacker grinding through a weakened or stretched defense. As a standalone threat it makes the opponent do math and lose either way, a grindier kind of pressure than green usually traffics in.
