A 3/3 body for two mana is aggressively costed; the defender keyword is the tax that pays for it. The wrinkle is how that tax gets lifted. Formidable does not check a single creature or a board state you maintain turn over turn; it gauges total power across everything you control, and the moment that number reaches eight, a single green mana flips a wall into an attacker. The design logic is a green-aggro escalation mechanic worn as a creature: early, this is a stout blocker you deploy ahead of curve and dare opponents to push through; later, once the board has filled out and the rest of your creatures have already done their counting, it stops being a wall and starts swinging for three with the rest of them. The cost structure rewards going wide and going tall at once, because the threshold cares only about cumulative power, not creature count, so a couple of fat threats unlock it as readily as a flood of small ones. What it gives up is reliability on an empty board: alone, it is a 3/3 that cannot attack, and against a deck that trades down your other bodies, the activation may never come online. That conditional is the honest price of a beefy two-drop that turns into a beater whenever the green deck is already doing what green decks want to do.
