Ghostly Sentinel
Vigilance is the entire pitch: a 3/3 flyer that swings for the air and stays home to guard it the same turn, which turns one common-slot body into both halves of a skies race. That combination of evasion and defense in a single creature is what a white beatdown or fliers shell wants at the top of its curve, filling the ground-and-air gap without asking the deck to spend more resources holding blockers back. There is no trigger to track, no engine hiding under the keywords, nothing to sequence past the combat step. It is honest common-rarity filler in the oldest tradition of the color: a Kor spirit that does exactly what its two words promise and stops there. The rate has never been exciting, but the vigilance is the one detail that keeps it from being redundant with every vanilla evader, letting a single card buy air superiority on both offense and defense.
