Ghost Warden

Creature — Spirit1 generic manaWhite mana

A repeatable pump effect on a stick, priced at the point where the small Spirit it sits on is almost incidental to the tap ability it carries. The lineage runs through every common-rarity creature that turned mana efficiency into a recurring combat advantage: the Spirit is the delivery vehicle, the Tap for +1/+1 is the engine. What makes that engine durable rather than disposable is that it resets each turn, so a board containing this card threatens favorable blocks indefinitely without ever spending a card. Recurring buffs always have to answer the same problem: make the effect free and the creature trivializes combat math; make it cost mana and nobody bothers to activate it. Tapping for the activation is the lever that keeps it fair, since the creature cannot attack and pump in the same turn, and an opponent who reads the open board can play around it. Functionally it is a colorless-effect creature wearing white's go-wide ambitions, the kind of low-rarity tool that exists to reward a board already broad enough to make a single +1/+1 swing into a race or a block. Modest on its own, it points squarely at the token-and-anthem strategies white has built repeatedly across editions.
