Ghitu Lavarunner

Creature — Human WizardRed mana

The threshold here is set lower than the keyword that inspired it: two spells in the bin rather than seven, with the payoff split into a small body upgrade and the haste that actually matters. The 1/2 frame is the tell about who this was built for. It comes down as a defensible blocker on turn one, surviving the early pings and one-toughness sweepers that a pure attacker dies to, then converts into a hasty two-power threat once the graveyard fills, which in a deck slinging cheap red spells is usually by turn two or three. The design is asking the pilot to spend the opening turns casting instants and sorceries anyway, the thing the deck wants to do, and rewarding that line by handing the one-drop relevance it would otherwise lose as the game speeds up. What keeps the rate fair is that the buff is conditional and reversible: empty your graveyard, or stall on spell count, and it reverts to a body that no longer races. Haste is the load-bearing word, not the +1/+0; a 1/2 that can swing the turn it flips on is a far better closer for a tempo-spells deck than a vanilla two-power creature, because it converts a topdecked threat into immediate damage at the exact point those decks are trying to end the game.

As long as there are two or more instant and/or sorcery cards in your graveyard, this creature gets +1/+0 and has haste. (It can attack and Tap as soon as it comes under your control.)
