Genju of the Fields
Every member of this genju cycle refuses to stay buried, and the white one turns that refusal into a war of attrition. The Plains it enchants can be killed, swept, or sacrificed, and the Aura simply returns to your hand when that land hits the graveyard, ready to suit up another Plains for a single mana again. That recursion clause is the whole bargain: the body the activation conjures is built to grind, not race, soaking up attackers and bleeding life back every time it connects. A 2/5 holds the ground against early aggression and banks four life across two clean swings, so the threat keeps reassembling no matter how much removal an opponent pours into it, and each answer only buys a turn. The activation cost is what pays for all that recursion: it lies dormant as a Plains until you sink mana into it, so the clock it offers is slow, two points at a time on an otherwise empty board. Measured against an era full of cast-and-defend threats, this was an unusually patient design: not a creature you protect but one you rent, lose, and rent again, with mana and tempo as the only real tax. White's version swaps the aggression of its color siblings for pure stall, winning by outlasting the graveyard rather than escaping it.
