Most counter-anthems push growth outward from a lord that stays static: you invest in the source, everyone else swells, and the source itself is just a keyword-holder. This Dog reads the board the other way around. Its own growth is the trigger, but the counters it distributes land on every other creature you control, so the effect is a translator: it converts a single pump aimed at one body into a team-wide swell. That inversion is the point. It does not care how the counter arrives or how many land at once; a lone +1/+1 placed on the Dog by any means fans out across everything else you have in play. The once-per-turn clamp is not there to stop a self-feeding spiral (the counters never touch the Dog, so no such loop exists), but to cap the payoff at a steady one-per-turn rhythm no matter how many counter sources you fire in a single turn. That makes it a reliable value piece rather than a combo lever, the kind that wants a repeatable outboard counter source (proliferate, a recurring sink, any effect that drops a counter on the Dog) firing it once each turn so the wider board collects the interest. The vigilance is quiet but consistent with the job: a creature meant to anchor a growing army should be able to swing and still hold the ground it is building. The deck around it decides the scale. Grow it once a turn and it is a modest anthem; grow it every turn and everything else rises with it.
