Generous Patron

The second ability is the clever part, and it inverts a relationship green usually leaves alone. Most of green's counter payoffs reward you for pumping your own board; this one pays a card whenever you put one or more counters on a creature you don't control, and the enters-the-battlefield support is the bait built to spring it. Nothing forces those counters to land on creatures you own, so pointing the gift across the table turns the support trigger into a draw. And because the ability watches for a creature receiving counters rather than a single event, spreading support across two of an opponent's creatures triggers it twice: two counters placed, two cards drawn. The engine keys on any counter you place on a creature you don't control, not just this creature's entrance, so a proliferate effect that grows an opposing creature, or any incidental counter you drop across the table, feeds it too. Controller matters, not owner, and the counter must originate from your effects: an opponent growing their own creatures does nothing here, and effects that only touch permanents you control cannot reroute onto an opposing board. The 1/4 sits behind blockers while the engine ticks. What the design captures is a specific corner of green's identity: the color most willing to grow things it will not keep, finally handed a reason to want a table full of other people's creatures and counters flying every direction.
