Take the most permissive removal spell in the game and hand it to white. That is the design maneuver: Beast Within, a green instant that answers any permanent by leaving a 3/3 token behind, gets a color-shifted twin with an Elephant instead of a Beast. White has always paid a tax for its universal answers, usually by restricting them to sorcery speed or narrowing what they can hit; this card breaks that convention with instant-speed, all-target destruction and no strings beyond the body it hands over. That 3/3 is the concession, and a real one: destroy a mana rock and your opponent has a blocker; destroy a land and they trade a card for something that can attack; destroy a creature and you have merely downgraded it. The token stings more here than it would in green, because white's own answers usually leave nothing on the board at all. What the card actually buys is coverage. It hits planeswalkers, enchantments, artifacts, creatures, and lands from one slot at instant speed, collapsing a stack of situational answers into a single flexible card. The Elephant is the price of that flexibility, and against a deck that can convert a 3/3 into pressure it is worth weighing. Against a game-ending permanent, it is no price at all.
