Garenbrig Carver // Shield's Might

Combat tricks live under a permanent tax: they are dead in your hand when the board is wrong and a blowout when it's right, so most players cut them for cards that always do something. The Adventure frame sidesteps that math. Cast Shield's Might as a +2/+2 pump and the card does not evaporate into the graveyard once it has won a combat or saved a creature; it waits in exile and returns later as Garenbrig Carver, a 3/2 body you can commit on a future turn. That defers the card disadvantage rather than paying it, because the second half is built into the same card instead of demanding a fresh draw. The sequencing is one-directional, and the design leans on that: you cast the trick first to unlock the creature from exile, and casting the Carver straight from hand simply forgets the pump ever existed. Both halves are deliberately modest. The trick is symmetrical to plenty of green combat spells, the creature is unremarkable, and that restraint is the point, since real power in either half would make free two-for-one value overwhelming. The worth is not in the rate of either side but in holding one card that threatens a trick now and banks a body for later, so long as you play them in that order. The worst case is never a fully dead card; it is a serviceable creature stapled to the back of a pump spell, which is exactly the failure mode that has always sunk conventional tricks.
