The body is a tax you pay to reach the death trigger: six mana for a 3/3 buys you nothing worth mentioning on the front side, and that is the whole point. The value lives entirely in dying, where three damage spread across up to three targets becomes a parting gift the controller usually arranges deliberately rather than waits for. That inversion (a creature whose combat presence is incidental to its funeral) is what makes it sacrifice fodder rather than a beater. Block it, kill it, chump with it, feed it to an outlet: every path that removes it from the board converts it into burn, and burn you can divide means it can mop up two or three small attackers at once or finish a depleted opponent while clearing a blocker. The divided-damage clause is the design lever here; a flat three to one target would just be a slightly bigger Searing Spear stapled to a creature, but the freedom to split the damage among one, two, or three targets lets the trigger play as a small sweep, a single removal spell, or reach, depending on what the table presents at the moment it dies. The cost is steep enough that it never threatens to dominate, which is exactly why a card like this lives or dies on whether you control the timing of its death rather than leaving that decision to the opponent.
