Galactic Wayfarer
A green ramp body that pays for its fixing on a delay. The 3/3 arrives on curve, but the Lander it drops asks for mana up front: it costs two mana and a tap and a sacrifice to cash in, so unless you have that mana to spare the actual acceleration often comes a turn later than the creature does. That deferral is the whole trade. Where a mana dork gives you speed and a fragile body, and a ramp spell gives you speed and no board, this splits the difference: a real blocker now, fixing banked for when you can spare the mana. The Lander also fetches basics onto the battlefield rather than into hand, which sidesteps the tempo cost of a tapped land off the top and lets the token double as insurance against a color-screwed draw. The design lineage here is the artifact-that-becomes-a-land, a token that sits on the battlefield as a resource until you decide the mana is worth spending, rather than a one-shot spell that resolves and is gone. Attaching that token to a body that trades in combat is the efficiency argument: you are not paying a separate card for the ramp, you are getting it stapled to a creature that has to be answered on its own terms.
