Frontline Sage

Two abilities sharing one body, each built for a different kind of turn. Exalted rewards the lone aggressor: send a single creature in and stack everyone else's pump onto it. The looter (draw, then discard) wants a tap and a mana to filter your hand toward whatever you need next. The 0/1 frame is what makes the pairing read oddly, because it tells you who this creature is not. It will never be the attacker carrying the exalted bonus, and it cannot block anything to a meaningful death; a single point of damage finishes it. What it is, instead, is a utility body that stays out of combat entirely. The two abilities do not compete, either: exalted triggers on its own when another creature attacks alone, so the Sage can hand out the +1/+1 and tap to loot in the very same turn, no waiting for a quiet one. The loot is the workhorse here, smoothing draws turn after turn (looting being the premier hand-sculpting tool, digging toward action while shedding flood). Exalted was an era's experiment in rewarding committed, single-file aggression, a deliberate counter-current to the go-wide boards of the time, and the keyword tends to read as an attacker's ability. Bolting it onto a defensive blue Wizard whose real job is repeatable filtering is the genuinely strange design choice: an aggressive trigger riding a creature that has no business in the red zone.
