Fractured Powerstone

Artifact2 generic mana

A mana rock that comes with a slot machine attached. The first tap ability is unremarkable colorless ramp, the kind of two-drop that fixes nothing and accelerates by exactly one; the second is the reason it exists, folding the planar die into a permanent rather than leaving it as an out-of-game mechanic tied to the format's dedicated deck. That die roll is gated to sorcery speed and costs a tap, so it competes turn-to-turn with the mana it would otherwise produce: you either build the board or spin for a plane, never both in the same turn. The design tension is the whole appeal. It takes a mechanic that normally lives outside the main deck and prices it onto an artifact any deck can run, which means the chaos becomes repeatable, sequenceable, and something you can actually plan around rather than a once-a-game gamble on the shared die. For anyone running the planar variant, it is a way to double or triple the number of rolls per game without leaning on the single built-in roller. Outside that context it is a colorless rock with a dead button, which is exactly the trade the card is built around: universal utility in one line, a niche engine in the other.
