Foul-Tongue Invocation

Instant2 generic manaBlack mana

Edict effects have always asked the same question: how do you make "sacrifice a creature" worth a card when a single spare token can eat the removal? This one answers by tying its bonus to a tribe. The base mode is a clean instant-speed edict, but the four-life rider only arrives if you can prove a Dragon: either revealed from hand as an additional cost, or already sitting in play. That conditional is the whole design lever. In a deck without Dragons it is a slightly overcosted Diabolic Edict; in a deck built around them it is removal plus a meaningful life swing at no extra mana, and the reveal clause means you do not even have to commit the Dragon to the board to collect. Because the target player chooses what to sacrifice, this is not a scalpel: it works best against decks that have overcommitted a single threat or been picked clean down to their best body, which is why holding it at instant speed matters. Wait until an opponent taps out or attacks with everything, and the edict lands when their options are thinnest while your bomb stays safe in hand. The card never trades up on the removal itself; it spends itself to take one creature the opponent picks. The reward lives in the margins, a four-life cushion that turns a fair one-for-one into the swing that buys back a turn of racing.
