Fortune's Favor

Instant3 generic manaBlue mana

The rare card-advantage spell that hands the decision to the table's other player, and the whole design hangs on how the split is structured. Your opponent sees your top four and sorts them into a face-down pile and a face-up pile, choosing not just which cards go where but how many land in each; then you take one pile to hand and bury the other in your graveyard. The face-down pile is pure information asymmetry: they know what is in it, you do not, so the moment of choosing is a small game played on top of a draw spell. Your opponent can shove three good cards into the hidden stack and dare you to grab the single card you can actually read, or split evenly and let you gauge their nerve. It descends from the Fact or Fiction family, where an opponent's split forces you to weigh known value against unknown, but the inversion here is sharper: Fact or Fiction shows you every card before you pick, while this keeps a pile hidden, so the bluffing runs both directions. The cost is that the card count is never guaranteed (the split can leave you choosing between a fat known pile and a lean hidden one), and at four mana instant-speed, pure draw beats it on raw rate. What you pay for is the texture of the negotiation, not the card economy.
