Foreboding Landscape

The tension every fixing-land has to resolve is the flood-versus-screw tradeoff: a land that fetches and fixes is dead weight once your mana is set, while a card that draws does nothing to smooth a stumbling manabase. This folds both jobs into one card and lets the game state decide which half you spend. Played early, it taps for colorless right away, then sacrifices to fetch a basic Swamp, Forest, or Island onto the battlefield tapped: color correction without the life payment a shuffle-fetch would charge you. Note that this is fixing, not acceleration; sacrificing one land to find another leaves your land count flat, so it smooths your colors rather than growing your mana. Drawn late, when lands are the last thing you need, the three-color cycling cost converts it back into gas. That cost is the whole balancing act. Cycling for one pip each of black, green, and blue means only a Sultai-committed deck can ever unlock the draw mode, which is precisely the deck that wants the tapland fetch in the first place. A narrower shell can still run it as a slow, painless color-fixer; the flexible second mode is walled off behind a manabase that already supports all three colors. One card hedging against both mana screw and mana flood, priced so that only the intended three-color shell gets to use both ends of it.
