Followed Footsteps

Enchantment — Aura3 generic manaBlue manaBlue mana

The whole pitch sits one upkeep away: enchant something worth copying, survive to your next turn, and you mint a fresh duplicate every cycle. The arithmetic is linear, not viral. One trigger, one token, once per upkeep, and the Aura never copies itself onto the bodies it makes, so this is steady addition rather than a runaway loop. The catch is the structural one that haunts every five-mana Aura: you are sinking the spell into a permanent that is not itself the threat, and when an opponent answers the enchanted creature (in response to the upkeep trigger, or simply before your turn arrives), both halves of the investment leave together. That two-for-one exposure is the tax for an engine that accrues over time instead of resolving now. Where the card earns its mana is on creatures whose enters-the-battlefield trigger is the actual payload: copy something that draws a card, drains a life total, or fetches another body when it arrives, and the token-a-turn clause stops being about board presence and becomes a free spell you re-cast at the start of your upkeep. That reframing is the reason it has a place in a world full of cheaper, safer clone effects. It does not just stamp out an extra creature; it re-runs whatever that creature does on the way in, every turn, until somebody finds the answer.
