Five mana, one pip of every color, to turn a 2/2 into a 4/4 with fear while knocking a target down by two: that price tag tells you exactly what this design was built for. It belongs to a clutch of black creatures whose abilities were deliberately loaded with the full rainbow, rewarding decks that had already bent their manabases to produce every color anyway. In a deck that can pay it, the activation does double duty: the fear makes the body near-unblockable against most boards, and the -2/-2 erases the one creature that might still chump it, so a single use can clear a blocker and connect for four in the same swing. The "activate only during your turn" clause is the leash, but it is looser than it reads: the ability still works at instant speed, so you can hold up the WUBRG through your own attack step and pump in response to a declared block, killing the blocker before damage. What the restriction denies is the defensive line: you cannot ambush an attacker on the opponent's turn, which keeps the card pointed squarely at the offensive role it was drawn for. Outside a deck flush with five-color fixing, everything below the stats is dead weight and the body reverts to a vanilla 2/2. That is the bargain: punishing color demand traded for an evasive, self-clearing attacker that asks you to have already built the mana to deserve it.
