Six mana for a 5/4 is a rate no constructed deck wants to pay, which tells you the body was never the selling point: this is common-rarity beatdown filler built to feel relentless rather than efficient. The compulsory-attack clause does the real shaping. A vanilla 5/4 lets you hold back, block, and wait for a profitable swing; stripping that choice converts a clunky body into a creature that commits to the red zone on its own schedule whether or not the math favors you. Haste compresses that further, denying the defender a summoning-sick turn to line up the chump block or the favorable trade. The result reads as a clock against a slower opponent and as a liability against anyone holding cheap removal or a wide enough board to eat it for nothing. The usual deal with a must-attack drawback runs the other way: a designer hands you stats above your mana cost and charges for them by taking away your defensive flexibility, so the obligation is the price of a bargain. Here there is no bargain to price. The stat line is already behind the curve at six mana, so the forced swing isn't paying down a discount; it is the only thing manufacturing urgency, since a six-mana 5/4 left to its own devices would otherwise just sit there. Red is full of creatures whose toughness lags their power and whose attack is written in by the rules, but this one sits at the low-impact end of that group.
