Here, each nontoken Equipment that enters spins off a temporary copy whose equip abilities are discounted by , and that discount is where the value lives. You are not just doubling the object; you are creating a one-turn window to strap the copy onto something for a fraction of the usual outlay, then losing it at the next upkeep. The haste rider closes the loop: the creature you equip can attack the turn it gears up, so the discounted copy has exactly enough time to matter before it evaporates. That sacrifice clause is the balancing weight, keeping this from being permanent card advantage; you get a burst of equipment value, not a stockpile. The design rewards equipment you would happily replay: cheap-to-cast, expensive-to-equip pieces where the reduction on the copy is the difference between one attacker suited up and two.
