Five mana to swing the whole board in one direction, with no targeting and no opt-outs: the chosen mode hits everything, yours included. The +2/+0 line is an alpha-strike enabler, turning a crowded battlefield into lethal math; the -0/-2 line is a symmetrical sweeper that wipes the small and leaves the large standing. Both modes are blunt by construction, and that bluntness is the design. This is a board-state spell that asks you to read the position before you commit: the pump mode wants you ahead on bodies so the extra power converts to damage faster than the opponent can race back, while the toughness drain wants your creatures tall and theirs a wall of two- and three-toughness blockers. The asymmetry is something you build into the table rather than something the card hands you. As black design it is unusual: the color rarely gets a creature-pump rider, and pairing one with a toughness sweep that plays one-sided in practice gives black a finisher that doubles as a stabilizer depending on which way the game has tilted. Being a sorcery keeps it honest in a different way than the cost does. It cannot ambush a combat step or answer a threat on the stack, so it lives in the main phase of a developed board, where one decisive instruction across every creature does more than a string of targeted ones could.
