Creature — Devil1 generic manaRed mana

That 1/3 body is doing all the balancing work. Most spellslinger payoffs come stapled to fragile frames that punish you for tapping out; this Devil instead survives the opposing one-drop's attack, blocks it profitably, and only grows once you start chaining cheap instants and sorceries. Prowess is the obvious lineage, but the effects diverge in a way that matters: prowess bumps toughness too and buffers against removal, while this creature pumps power only, converting each cast into pure reach without protecting itself. That trade is deliberate. The three toughness is doing the defensive work prowess normally folds into its trigger, which frees the trigger to be a flat +2/+0 (double the standard prowess bonus) rather than a modest +1/+1. Cast two cantrips and it swings for five off a two-mana investment, the kind of math that reads as a nonbo with an aggressive curve until you notice the body was already stable enough to hold the ground while you dig for gas. It is a payoff shaped for a deck that runs its creature count low and its noncreature count high: the archetype that always wants a threat cheap enough to deploy early and durable enough to still be relevant once the spell engine comes online.
