Fear of Falling

Read the attack trigger as a lane-clearing effect rather than a combat trick and it snaps into focus. Because it strips flying from its target on top of the -2/-0, pointing it at the defender's only flier drops that creature to the ground the instant you declare the attack, and a 4/4 in the air sails past unblocked; the stat reduction is almost beside the point in that case. Aim it at a grounded blocker instead and the -2/-0 does the shaving, trimming a would-be defender until the block loses or stops looking worthwhile. What makes the swing so flexible is that you pick the victim at combat, every attack, so you always target whatever the defender was counting on to hold the line rather than the creature you expected to fight. The debuff runs until your next turn, so it also survives the opponent's turn: the flier you grounded stays grounded and shrunk while they hold up defense or plan their own attack, but it snaps back before you swing again. Each attack buys a single clean pass, not a cumulative erosion of their air defense. The limit worth knowing is that losing flying is not losing reach, so a grounded reach creature can still catch this and trade, and against one the -2/-0 is your only lever. Every attack poses the same question fresh, which is why the nightmare framing earns an otherwise plain evasive body.
