Fathom Seer

Creature — Illusion1 generic manaBlue mana

The morph cost is the entire trick: instead of paying mana to flip it, you return two of your own Islands to hand, then draw two cards to replace them. The net is a tempo wash that resolves into card advantage. You spend a turn deploying a 2/2 face down, then unmorph in response to almost anything (a removal spell, an attack you want a surprise blocker for, an opponent tapping out) and refill your hand at instant speed. The Islands are not lost, just delayed, which makes the cost feel steep in the moment and cheap over the course of a game where you would have replayed those lands anyway. This is the rare morph where the face-up trigger and the flip cost interlock rather than sit independently on the same card: the bounce sets up the draw, and the draw pays for the bounce. The 1/3 body it reveals does little real work, a defensive line whose only job is to chump or trade once the trick has already cashed in. It sits among the blue cards that monetize their own lands (Meloku and the karoo-bounce school of land-for-value live in the same neighborhood), and it remains one of the cleaner expressions of the idea: a creature that converts the act of replaying your Islands into raw cards, in a single one-shot flip.
