Family Reunion
Two of white's oldest team-wide instants folded into a single modal card: the anthem swing of a small combat pump and the protection blanket of mass hexproof, either bought for the same two mana. The design logic is deferral, holding a decision open until the last possible instant. Against a wide, defensive board you take the +1/+1 to punch through in combat or race a stalled ground; against a piece of targeted removal or a fight spell you flash in hexproof and blank the answer, since your creatures can no longer be chosen. That is also the mode's ceiling: hexproof stops targeting, not sweepers, so a mass-destruction effect that never picks a target sails right through it. Reading which threat you are facing is the whole skill. Both modes resolve at instant speed and neither needs a target of its own, so once the spell resolves the hexproof mode walls off an opponent's spells and abilities without touching yours; the catch is that the spell sits on the stack first, open to a counter or a response before you ever reach the mode you paid for. One line per cast means the payoff is timing rather than raw power, and it compounds with bodies: the more creatures you control, the more each mode does. Neither half is new white technology; the value is carrying both answers in one slot and picking once the information is complete.
